There maybe some confusion about the terms HDR and Tonemapping with this photo of Audreys. It is what many people seem to associate with the terms, and yet there has been no merging of images as in the HDR process, or indeed tonemapping.
I think it fair to say, on Audreys behalf, that she has simply used a Lightroom preset, downloaded for free, and something along the lines of THIS one.
It does say that it's a HDR effect and it's perfectly possible to tone map for HDR with one frame. The process would create two extra versions of the image, one darkened and one lightened and then the three different versions would be merged.
I actually feel the effect Audrey has achieved verges on the OTT, but the image I chose for POTD does survive the process well by having a strong composition, I feel.
