        Ian,

I only use an ancient old 'brick-sized' mobile for texting and urgent calls so I'm not very clued up about the newer phones and charges. However - there's a report on todays BBC website (Business section) that may interest you.

        Here's the link

Hi Patrick, I actually use my phone as an Internet dongle for my laptop, but wirelessly using Bluetooth. I do occasionally need to look something up on he Internet and my phone (actually now nearly three years old) is a HTC Tytn II, Windows Mobile smart phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that I hardly use , but I do use Opera Mini for browsing the Internet on the phone by itself. I also check my email using the phone.

                Re: Rip-off mobile phone Britain

Sorry to hear your story ian. Data charges are indeed a rip off. I have an iPhone with O2 and everytime I go abroad when the phone connects to a signal for the first time I receive 3 text messages at about ten minute intervals reminding me of the cost per mb. It doesn't excuse the high charges but at least o2 are trying.

Re Internet on the go. I love it. Right now I am in a lovely coffee shop working my way through a large americano and choc chip (triple) muffin whilst catching up on my fav forum.

                Best regards

Quite by coincidence I see that a Which? report on roaming data charges has hit the headlines. Something has to budge!

Good that they wrote it off but not good they didn't call back or anything.

I remember a few years ago a couple of calls on my bill from abroad. I called them up to query it as I had not been anywhere abroad for months before that and that there must be a mistake. After much racking of brain cells I remembered I had flown with my mate to the Isle of Wight and made a few calls when we landed at Sandown. Apparently T-Mobile class the IOW as abroad!!
