I use it on a Canon G9.
It would work on a 50D no problem. However, for me it didn't work as well as the tilt & swivel screen on the early G series cameras, but then it never really says it will. It is useful for certain situations when you may find it hard to get your eye in line with the screen or to the viewfinder.
It takes a little getting used to and you must be aware that the image on the mirror is inverted. In the case of street photography I imagine you would be looking down into the mirror, and the resulting image would be upside down.
You must be careful when sticking it onto your screen, as the adhesive strips are very strong and once they touch its hard to reposition them. You need to get it right first time.
The other advantage of them is that they act as a screen protector.
For what they cost though its worth giving it a go
