  • Shoreham Airshow

Good day had at the local airshow. Took millions of pictures but here are a handful that I think are ok.

This 'blast' was when they had an ME109 attack the airfield then some Spitfires and Hurricanes came and done a quick 'dogfight', it was good to see. I got a few of these blasts and I like the detail in this one.

Some old WW1 stuff there, I thought the english tail contrasted quite well with the German ones behind it.

The amazing Vulcan flew over a few times, last time I seen one of these was way back in 1979 at the Liverpool AIrport airshow!

Skydivers. Overdone the contrast on this but it still looks good I think.....

I love the detail in this old aeroplane. Does anyone know what the bit of wood hanging down in front of the pilot is?

Better view of it here just underneath the gun,

      great set.

Love the skydivers and the Dof on the second from last. Been to shoreham for the last two years but decided to give a miss this year after the crash I saw last year.

      Best Regards

The only time I can remember see a Vulcan was many years ago on holiday in Malta, one flew over from the air base that was there then (shows how many years ago that was) and as you say they were loud, if fact loud rather understates the noise.

              super set of shots fella!

Especially like the fireball being the pyromaniac I am!

I used to live very close to Greenham Common Airbase (when it was an airbase), and was able to watch the annual airshow sat on my window sill! ahhh the memories.....

Nice shots. Particularly like the SE5. Pure speculation which you have probably had a stab at as well the bit of wood looks like a customisation for level flight or landing or something similar. Perhaps there is a pilot out there who could comment, the SE5a's nose is quite long and the seating position low. Otherwise it interferes with the Foster mount which allowed the Lewis gun to be pulled down for reloading or firing upward.

Whoa, that's a blast and a half! Well timed ekkl. I also like the third one of the skydivers - you've captured a nice spiral turn - (colours look like you've changed to LAB mode channel B and blending mode Overlay?)

Regarding the wooden thingy-me-bob above, "him in the know" suggests it looks like an old meter for measuring G-force - although it was a bit before his time (just )!
