Indeed very unique picture. While I've seen many shots of these type, the insect in the birds mouth is making a great difference that I don't remeber that I have seen in any other shot.
Congrats on your POTD. This is perhaps my favourite bird shot in the galleries at the moment, and there are indeed some good ones there. This one though is a stunner and far more than a simple specimen 'trophy' shot as many can be. Here the wonderfully coloured bird shows 'attitude' and is doing what it does best, catching a meal, which is so graphically portrayed. the inclusion of the 'perch' and that sublime bokeh make it a wonderful eyecatching shot,well done
Brilliant capture , great DOF isolates the bird and catching it with a meal(locust?) adds to the shot .
I've been trying to catch a local Kingfisher all last year , got loads of blurred shots but i can never find the branch it sits on , ah well this has inspired me to keep trying .
