Re: Cancer Research fun run today - some pictures
Thanks Jo,
Although technically it was a walk with a bit of jogging thrown in
We did, however, run from where we were standing in the photo to the finish line!
Thank you to everyone who sponsored us. There is still time if everyone else would like to add to the confers.Julia

Hi Julia
Hope you and your family had a wonderful time at the fun run. Cancer for me is a big issue - have a look at my web it explains all.
Once again well done.

www.daveritchie.com, but I understand that you are now joining the army? Sounds good, though get the impression you aren't at the usual joining up age
I was also interested in your Iraq picture with the cabin crew member! The bit of the plane I could see had the slogan 'Tubular Belle' which suggests it was a Virgin aircraft?

I looked at your website too Dave. Ian's comments made me hunt for the "Virgin" shot. I realise that this image is not up for "critique", however I have to say both soldier and hostie's expressions convey a sense of mutual admiration (maybe not the best way of describing it but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from?) I really like the camaraderie it displays. For me, great shot.
I hope you go from strength to strength - very best wishes to you Dave.

Re: Cancer Research fun run today - some pictures
Morning to the Forum
Couple of things from the photo.
I was in Iraq as part of Opertion Telic 1 which was the was the fighting phase of war. I was there as Ops Officer for 53 Sqn Royal Engineers who are a Harrier Support Sqn based out of Waterbeach.
Our main role once the warfighting phase finished was to restore the utilities/service within Basra airport and prepare accommodation for the next phase of soldiers to arrive.
The Virgin 747 that flew was a little hush hush until after the event. Basically Sir Richard flew in with a body of reporters and the senior pilot was an Iraqi. They brought with them boxes of charity goods which had been donated by variious UK bodies to distribute to the local population.
It was a wonderful visit with the press pack getting lots of photo's for back home and it was the spur of moment thing so I told a buddy what I was going to do so gave him my camera to take a couple of pictures. The hostess got a bit of a shock when I lifted her up but took it in great fun - quite a few of the press took photo's and it appeared on the front of the British Soldiers paper in Germany.
All in all a wonderful experience in my life.
A big thanks to all for your support too.
Cheers
