Re: A few thoughts on the Canon G9
Is the lens cap a good fit?
One thing that always irritated me about the G3 is the loose lens cap. I have it permanently tethered to the strap because that's the only way I can be sure it won't get lost ... it's a hopeless fit!

Re: A few thoughts on the Canon G9
I know what you mean Pol, the G9 though does not have a lens cap as such. There is an integral shutter style one that opens and closes with power on/off. This allows the lens barrel to advance and retract. Most pocketable digicams at least seem to have this system these daysOriginally posted by Pol View PostIs the lens cap a good fit?

Re: A few thoughts on the Canon G9
That seems like a better option to an iffy lens cap! I'd quite like to 'handle one of those just for the fun of it ..... though the G3 is still adequate for any of my 'compact' needs.Originally posted by Stephen View PostI know what you mean Pol, the G9 though does not have a lens cap as such. The old Coolpix 775 has that system - both of those are still in use here and neither of them has ever stuck or caused any problems (some of the earlier reviews used to mention they might).

Re: A few thoughts on the Canon G9
I too looked at the G9 but went for a A710is similar features but then got the CHDK hack which sits on the SD card until you activate it. O boy its got loads of features inclding Raw, Live histogram, aperture range from f2.8-f16, flash at all shutter speeds, the list is endless. You can even download a manual in PDF file. It also does'nt effect warrenty. So saved a few quid.
