Knight Rider to make a come back

Ok so it may be a bit sad but I like this sort of stuff must be the kid in me.

Oh and I hear a new A team movie could be on its way next year.

What would you like to see make a comeback.

Re: Knight Rider to make a come back

oh brilliant I used to love kitt

I am pleased the Hoff is not in it as the main character, would not look quite right. Pity they could not have found a cameo role for him, to keep continuity there. but then again, the way he is now a days, who could rely on him.

Amazing in these days though at how much they are remaking from the 80's
just shows we did have good taste in those days

There was one that used to be on, was not on for long , it was a very fast car and every time it went round a corner it threw the occupent to the window.... I think there used to be a bike in it aswell. but can not remember the name

Re: Knight Rider to make a come back

Nice to see these old shows starting to get the respect that they deserve, but I just can't get up the enthusiasm for it.

Many of the old 70s and 80s shows are being remade/reimagined/resomething'd, and not one has lived up to the reputation of its predecessor.

It's often the case that some exec can't sell their own rubbish idea, so they pinch an established name, wrap the reputation of some classic series around their own garbage, and then wheel it would expecting us poor saps to lap it up. Look at Dukes of Hazzard, Miami Vice, Galactica, The Avengers, Mission Impossible, and so on...

And now there's Knight Rider and The A-Team. The problem is that these programme makers completely miss the boat when trying to recapture the magic of the original series. Knight Rider, for example, wasn't just a show about a talking car that could do stunts; Dukes of Hazzard wasn't just a couple of hillbillies with a car that could to stunt; etc...

These programmes worked the first time around because they got the right actors to bring the characters to life. No one watched The A-Team every week to see the old guy smoke a cigar, the black guy thump someone, and the smart one comb his hair. No one watched Knight Rider week-in, week-out because the car kept saying "be careful Michael" while jumping over a skip.

Yet all the programme makers of today do is to make a shallow surface-level shadow of the previous show, and con everyone into thinking that it's a "reimagined" version.

Honestly, there were four seasons of Knight Rider - verging on 90 episodes and some feature-length episodes made up from two-parters. There were very nearly 100 episodes of The A-Team, again with two and three parters making up mini-movies. How on Earth do they expect to recapture the same kind of magic with one modern-day TVM? If you want to revisit the classic series, you'd be better off spending 20 on a DVD boxset than looking to any new version.

Re: Knight Rider to make a come back

Knight Rider was one of my favorites! Was it the same in the UK as it was in the US? Were the Actors the same. I think David Hasselhoff could still do the part. I also am curious to see Kitt in the year 2007! I wonder if Kitt has gotten grumpy in his old age!

I was trying to think of the that one this afternoon.

tv from the 80s was so cool no Xfactor or Big brother in sight.

One of the worst remakes that I have seen is Starsky and Hutch. That was one really cool show but they messed it up so much.

it was an awesome remake, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Granted it was nothing like the original, but it was great.

Sorry but why did you like this movie so much when so much of it was wrong. I just found it was made out to be a funny film when the shows were darker.

I quite agree with you. I got the DVD and on the front it said "Greatest Comedy of the Year". I didn't laugh once. I gave up after half an hour and didn't watch the rest.

Re: Knight Rider to make a come back

Knight Rider and some others like Bionic Woman (in Japan titled bionic Jemy), the six million dollar man, the incredible Hulk were my special favorites. I recall I could not wait for another week to watch the next on TV. In the 60's I enjoyed Lost in Space or The Time Tunnel.
This reveals I like SF like stories?
