A fortnightly themed photo competition run by DPNow forum users for forum users. A curator chooses the theme and picks the winner and then becomes the new curator. It could be you!
Sorry for the delayed response. When I had time I had no internet and when I had internet I had no time .
The building you asked about is a "Bottle Oven" (or "Bottle Kiln") and was a kiln used to fire china. Bottle kilns were used to fire many forms of pottery and tiles. The building is now part of the Coalport China Museum (http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/our_att..._china_museum/)
They were once a very common part of the industrial scene but are now quite rare.
Re:RESULTS OF.... Fortnightly Salon Competition (NO 16)
The time has come after MUCH deliberation, to announce the winner of SALON 16! It has been quite an experience. There were SOOOOOO many entries that were excellent & each on their own merit! Thanks one & all for participating!
The criteria I set was for entries was that they had New, Fresh, Novel ideas for the theme, or whose presentation also complimented their aesthetically pleasing photo.
In 3rd place ..Trevor...whose presentation of a Beautiful photograph of scenery...stunning!
2nd Place goes to Andrew Thatcher, whose entry I found to be New, novel & eyecatching take on the theme..Reflections!
The 1st place & WINNER of Salon 16 goes to jds 9000 & 'Cornet Castle, Geurnsey!' CONGRATULATIONS! I chose this entry for its use of Complimentary colour, its balance & symmetry & panoramic style. It's freshness & aesthetic appeal. Well done!
You have the honour of naming the next Salon Theme! Don't forget to attach the rules when posting title!
Stephen, I thought your entry superb, I always admire your work! (In my mind you are a Winner) If there were more criteria or categories, there would've been more winners for sure!
Greg...I really loved your 'Venice Under Water' it would make a beautiful Oil painting! I however found the Right hand side a little dark & therefore lacked detail or definition there! Another New & fresh take on the theme!
