Holiday birding

I know the quality on these photos isn't great, which is why I'm not putting them up for critique. You may (or may not) have noticed I've been a bit quiet lately - mainly because we took a last minute holiday the last week in March (booked 1200 Saturday, flew 0715 Monday!).

These were taken whilst exploring the seafront in Heraklion, Crete.

Oddly enough, the kestrel is nesting on the side of the Natural History Museum!

They were taken from quite a distance - about 100 metres, I had to use digital zoom and though they've been sharpened they're about as clear as I can make them. We noticed her when the male came back to the nest with food and there was a lot of noise from the pigeon nest further down.

Stayed there for about 15 minutes watching her, and were about to turn and walk on when we noticed what must be an escapee, because it's not in the bird books:

Got back home at 4.30 a.m. on Saturday 30th, went down to Devon for the day to collect the doggy on Sunday and back to work on Monday.... and haven't really had time to post since!
