Sigma 18-50mm EX DC Lens

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has anyone tried one of these ?
I've seen one in an american site for £171 and wondered if it was any good ?
I've read a few reviews on the net and it seems to well received apart from the few who hate it !!

I have an aging Canon 28-70 f3.5-4.5 which serves me well, but fancied something with an f2.8 right through the range, and not willing to sell the house to buy an 'L' .... this seemed the next best .....

Any thought out there ?

Brand spanking ...... full 2.8 across the range ... petal hood 'n' all .... it left the US yesterday afternoon 3pm our time .... so next couple of days...
