  • Challenge No 157 - Street Photography

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY is the new Challenge.

I am looking for an image that stands out in the crowd, not just an ordinary long shot of a view. I have taken a few in my time - one I recall was of a man playing a didgeridoo outside M & S in Sheffield. I am sure you all have a lot tucked away. Good Luck.

Here's a "street view" I'll never forget. The aftermath of Hurricane Irene in Vermont two years ago. The ground floor of our condo building was four feet underwater and we acquired an upside down Subaru!

I took this shot just outside the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. I always wondered what each of the subjects was thinking at the time of the shot.

Come along Girls and Boys. I know a lot more members have Street Photography photos in their archives. Shake them up and show them to keep this thread alive.

These were both taken with a panasonic tz5 which I no longer have, on a trip to London to see Take That. Ive replaced it with an updated tz35, a bit more reach and a few more zillion pixels but nowhere near as well built as the tz5 was

Thanks to all for your entries. As usual I have found it extremely difficult to decide on a winner.

After a lot of shuffling around and changing position, I have finally come to a decision.

I would first like to mention Kurts "Happiness", I really like the stance and expression on the girl's face, however, in ... ...

Third place: Pat Moore's "Nuns" - A good strong image with great contrasts.

In second place I have chosen Tom's lady - a lovely old-fashioned look. This is an interesting photograph and well captured for a street photograph and

In First place I have chosen Andy's. I cannot make up my mind which one I like best. The first one with the shadows and silhouettes on the diagonal or the second with the girl beating the living daylights out of the drum. Both of these captures are terrific.

So once again it's over to you Andy.
