Re: Dp now so slow

I am with Talktalk.

The top bar comes up quite quickly, followed by the side bar and then about 20 seconds before anything else appears.

Re: Dp now so slow

Morning Audrey - could you try powering off your router for at least ten seconds and then powering it back on?

Re: Dp now so slow

I have had some word back from our hosting company. This is what they said:

Can you have your client do a traceroute to the server? There's no bandwidth limiters between your clients and the server except the ISP and your client in question. If the site has its own IP address, and it is not being shared with other sites its possible that his ISP has capped it, some how. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

To do a traceroute you need the Window command prompt. This can be Accessories folder and is a black icon with a white C_ legend.

Run this and a small window will appear. Simply type in tracert dpnow.com and then frame grab the result, like this:

The information produced will help identify any bottlenecks in your network connections between you and our server.

Re: Dp now so slow

Sorry for the delay Ian, I have only just noticed your post.

Let me say, when I use my laptop and Roy's Ipad,it is relatively quick and moves around your site as normal.

It is on this desk top where the problem lays and this is the router's base.

When I click onto DPNow.com, whilst loading, there is a message bottom left of my computer saying "Waiting for temp.dpnow.com." It probably always says that, but I have never noticed it before.

Also, top of this page on the www bar (can't remember it's name), it says dpnow.com/forum2/newreply ... ... ... It's just the 2 in forum I am querying, is it always there?

It looks as though it goes right around the world for me to get to this site.

Re: Dp now so slow

I know Audrey is now in Spain on holiday (lucky girl! ) - maybe she has access to the Internet from their? Hope so.

Anyway the advice I am getting in response to all her comments and the traceroute data is that the problem may be specific to the one computer of hers that runs slowly.

It could be a Web browser that needs updating or a browser plug-in playing up.

Interesting. Last night David commented that DPN was "taking forever" to open properly on his very small lappy. Mine was zipping along as usual on my own laptops.

Both of us were connected via Infinity and he was actually nearer the router than me. I commented it was probably just his small 11" lappy playing up. He retorted that DPN was absolutely fine on his desktop - so there y'go!

Have a nice holiday, Audrey.

Pol
