Buxton

Had a trip to Buxton in Derbyshire to see my Sister on Monday and managed to take a few snaps while there. The weather was changeable as you can see from these two that were taken a few minutes apart.
Both taken with a Pentax K-r.

Re: Buxton

A good few years since I was last in the area.
Looks like the pavillion was given a clean recently. I like the selective viewpoint of them both. A nice change from the attempts to get the whole of the buildings in.

Re: Buxton

I don't think I have been there - the name of course evokes visions of bottled mineral water. Never knew there was a pavilion or opera house there, either, so I have learned something today!

Thumbs up Re: Buxton

I especially like the first one. That sort of sky can help produce some superb images if and when there are sunny spells beaking through. The details and the colours are also superb, very true. A cracker of a shot!

The gateway to the peak district Ian.
You would love it.

Re: Buxton

I love the light in the first but for me the second captures the grandeur and elegance of the Opera House. It's a long time since I last visited Buxton, or the Peak District for that matter.

Re: Buxton

Lovely, especially the second one IMO. I also only ever associated Buxton with water. Anybody know why they put on bottled water that it has been filtered for millions of years through natural rock etc etc etc yet put an expiry date on it? Weird.

That would be because once it is bottled it is no longer flowing and continually freshly replenished from a spring.

Funnily enough in Buxton you can bottle your own water from the spring and it is free. Even in the winter the water is warm from flowing through the underground rock.

Re: Buxton

That's a nice picture of the pavilion roof, Paul.

The last time I was in Buxton it was to see Ken Dodd at the Opera House. He might not have finished his show, yet...
