Slow-worm? You're joking!

Found on the coastal footpath early in the morning. Probably flushed out of his nest by the rain earlier. Not moving at all, it was far too cool to be able to charge his batteries so before some idiot decided to jump on him whilst shouting "Serpent!" I put him in my shirt to warm up.
After about half an hour he had become very active and now lives in my compost heap, happy and warm. I can assure you that it's not easy to get the eyes, or even the head, in focus holding a slow-worm in one hand and taking a macro shot single handed!

Pity someone didn't jump on the idiot!

Good thing that you were there, otherwise it would probably be dead now!

Some people ( If you can call them people) Are just so ignorant!

You did well to photograph this single handed!

Well done on both counts!

Re: Slow-worm? You're joking!

These are legless lizards, if I recall correctly. I can certainly imagine them to be very slow when cold and very fast once warmed up! I have never seen a reptile in my garden, lots of insects, spiders, even frogs and toads, various mammals, and, of course, birds of all shapes and sizes, but never a reptile!

Facinating creatures, I've only once ever seen one.

Lovely shots - don't think I've ever seen one. Like Ian, I have lots of other reptiles, animals and birds in the garden.
