This is not a bad image, just a little confusing, to my eyes anyway, it looks as if you have taken a photograph of just the roof apex part of a house?? is that how the house is? i've never seen it. However you do seem to be having fun and getting the hang of the new software. mono/sepia/edited in galleries ok there not perfect but i think Let me know when you get the Perfect pic .
I had a look at your galerie, you sure are getting the hang of the software and image editing, may I make just one suggestion, don't overdo the use of any one filter, most of the images display the soft blured vignette, I know that I went through a faze where I used all and every filter and effect under the sun, but I also learnt a lot as well, hopefully it is now out of my system, "but I still like playing around to see what effects I can get"

I quite like this picture, a criticism I would make is the out of focus trees on the left hand side.
In one way they add a certain amount of mystery, but on the other are very distracting and the eye is continually drawn to them. The other out of focus areas I find do add to the picture, it’s just those on the left are a little to much.
It’s a good case in point, look round the viewfinder before pressing the button.

Following up on Tinka’s comments about filter in Photoshop a friend of mine always says a photographer’s pictures would improve 100% if they all had to be paid for as an extra.

hi thanks for the feedback,i will ease up on the focus softner then l.o.l i was aiming for old postcard sort of look ?
tinka the pic was taken from the back/side views of hse from the gardens with was up a very steep incline so its looking down hill through the trees,but the house full frontal isnt much bigger & that was the view point i was looking for i take it then not such a good view point ?,i just didnt want just another shot of a front of hse. in welsh its called Ty Un Nos’ - or house built overnight. Under ancient law, he who built a house between sunset and sunrise, with walls, roof and smoking chimney, could claim the freehold.its just outside Betws-y-Coed & just before Capel Curig on the edge of snowdon north wales...ooo sorry 2 much history there

It doesn't look like an ugly house to me (unless some other view of it reveals something really ugly). I would say that it is a cute country house surrounded by very nice nature.
While I like your photo a lot, I disagree with the blur/foggy post processing effect. The nature around looks very attractive and nice as I previously said, so I think the entire photo should be viewed without any blurry/foggy effect.
While the B&W version suits photos like that, I also think that the color version would also be suitable for showing to the max the full of living nature.
thanks for your comments they've been very helpfull. i did do this in a sepia effect to but it was before the blur effect posts so it was overdone i will leave the blur button alone 4 a while l.o.l

Just another house!? the color image is great, I like your aproach to try to take/produce something different, I do try to do that myself, it does not always work, but I try anyway. I was not criticiseing that, it was the overdoing of the blur vignette effect I did not like, also the image was confusing to me. As for giving a potted history, it is nice to be given a little information on a place you have never seen, keep it up.

I am with George on this one, I really dont like the soft focus effect.
That said, I LOVE the colour version you have posted, I think it is much better than the mono. Looks like a magical house, not an ugly house!
