My take on the "keeler Chair"

sorry not posted in a while but here is one from last night to make up for it

Here is my take on the iconic photo of Catherine Keeler sitting in that chair. I know straight away that the chair is lost in to the back ground and I hope to put that right in a future shoot if I can. This was also shot with just a soft box camera left and I know now that it should have been natural window light but I was only able to shoot it in the evenings so I could not use the window light. I know there are faults with it but like I said I hope to put them right in future shoots.

Strangely, while this has all the issues that you describe, I like the idea of doing this "iconic" shot without anything of the chair being evident.

Doing things like this is vital, both in learning how to improve the shot, techniques, etc., but also in being different and providing a fresh take on things.

I'd definatly try to get the sculpting shape of the chair onto her left leg, such that the chair shape is better defined.

As you say it's "My Take" on the original and I think it's a great idea.

I really did want ore of the chair

I do like shooting this type of thing because like you say it does make you think and improve on ones ideas. This is the sort of image I could shoot over and over again. I also had the challenge of my model not been nude

so I really had to pose her so it looked like she was. She had hot pants and a bra on

I like that the chair "disappears" in your take but I'm not so sure about the much softer focus as compared to the Keeler original.

thank you for the comments. Yes it is a softer look then the original which is sort of what I was going for but it may well be to soft. I do have another one here http://500px.com/photo/3498897 which is one I did on a second shoot with the same model.

A very interesting idea. Sure, it has lots of faults, of which you are fully aware, but lots to like as well. As Graham said, it's good to do it differently to the original whilst embracing the same theme - you could even use a male model in future version! Look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Now using a guy was not something I had thought of but I like the idea
