I thought as much... taken from one of the corners of the square (not the main entrance) with the wooden house apparently in front of the cathedral. I worked that out this afternoon as I stood just outside the cathedral door and said I must check dp now later, because I'm sure I'm right!

Of course, your shot (and the one I put up) didn't show the little joke that the carvers made........

If you look at the carvings on the 2nd row down, you'll see something I thought was not usually found on a religious building!

Apologies for the delay in replying, but I'm obviously on the road at the moment.

Off out to see my daughter and her beautiful view of the cathedral from her apartment and then off to the mountains.

Oh, and there's also the little matter of delivering the salt n vinegar crisps, PG Tips, chutney and minstrels - supplies for the expat!

Nope, not Strasbourg - I was still on my way there at this point of the holiday... in fact, it's not even France (although close by)

And you can't get Salt and Vinegar crisps in France, so I always take supplies when I drive over.

Got back in the early hours of this morning, so catching up on comments before I start downloading from our journey. 1440 miles driven in 13 days through 4 or 5 countries (I lost count...)

Have to admit I did take some more shots of the cathedral in Strasbourg though!

Sorry about that - it was just to prove it was the same place. I wonder if Drmarkf has eaten at that restaurant though... it looks swish.

Clue - I was en route from Dunkirk to Strasbourg.

So unless you have gone for a very circuous route it is either Belgium or Luxembourg or a small possibility of Germany. Wouldn't think you would go through Antwerp, but probably would Brussels so I am going to guess Brussels and the river Senne. A lot of nice castles all over Blegium.

Some very nice castles in Belgium, and I was actually coming down the hill from staying in a chateau... but it wasn't Brussels. I'd discovered the day before that their Peripherique is worse than Paris, having queued round it for 2½ hours so I'm a little further on.

Ah, the wonders of Google Maps Street View.

It's Namur, taken from the citadel.

I've been past on the motorway several times, but never stopped. It looks quite Rhineish doesn't it.

Spot on... It's actually quite interesting on that hill - the citadel, architectural ruins and a dig, and the Chateau were we stopped (thank you, whichever late booking site I used... I got a fantastic room at the chateau for 95 euros off the normal price)
