Yard Posies

Just some more test shots. A new filter, UV/IR Cut. Boy has it made a difference in this HS35EXR.

Thumbs up Re: Yard Posies

That's a very nice exposure, good colours and good definition and tones on the petals. Gorgeous Dahlias too!

Re: Yard Posies

Lovely and sharp and the colours appear to have been enhanced by the filter.

Re: Yard Posies

These cameras are extremely sensitive to IR, so much so you can hand hold shots with a Hoya R72 filter in place. You even can get a really good image in the EVF, or the LCD to compose by. I was having problems with color shift, and whites blowing out even with a lot of exposure compensation. So I did a little research, and found this was probably the result of insufficient IR filtering at the CMOS.

So a $65 B+W UV/IR cut filter fixed this, now it does really well for a pinhead sensor camera. But its a fun camera, probably the closest to DSLR handling of all the Super Zoom cameras. The external controls are very similar to a Nikon, buttons down the left side of the LCD.
You have about every setting at your fingertips the camera is capable of. The size and weight, even are very close to an introductory DSLR. The end of the lens is threaded for 58mm, so no crazy adapters needed. Manual zoom like Canon and NIkon lens, and manual focusing by a real ring on the lens. And it gives you a lot of magnification in the EVF, so it really works. First Fuji I have owned in about 7 years, not too bad.

The Colors are Fujiís mimic of their old roll/slide films, the camera shoots Provia, Arista, and Velvia. This picture is Provia. Its not a Cadillac, but is a darned good Chevy. With the filter on it. Passable without, if you don't get too critical
