Photo critique Here is where you can display your images and seek the comment, advice and, maybe, constructive critique of your work. Only post your images here if you are happy for frank feedback. If in doubt, use the beginners board instead. Only post your comments here if you feel you can make a constructive and polite contribution in response to what is, for some, a leap of faith in exposing their work to your critical comment.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

The dark one. But really don't like the vignette on either.

Probably because I expect to see a vignette get darker, it appears "wrong" to my eye.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

I prefer the dark one without any vignette or with an invers one, more clear in the center. Regards, H

Re: Which background do you prefer?

In the second version (without vignettes) the white one. This is a personal opinion - if you're going to use the black I think it needs to be darker, with the object further away from the background.

Shoot me if you think I'm wrong...

Re: Which background do you prefer?

I agree about the white background. I would probaly put some more space behind the flower as to soften the shadow.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

The white one was my first choice also, but now you have removed the vignette I like them both.

The flower on the white one is more centralised which suits my eye.

The flower has photographed well in both cases and is very pretty.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

The dark definitely but would like to see it much darker. That would really make the lillies jump out.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

I have moved the flower forward about 4 inches as suggested by Carol and I am happy with this shot. Thanks for all your help John.

Re: Which background do you prefer?

Both have their merits but the black background really emphasizes the colours of these beautiful flowers.

Glad it worked! Lovely before, but think the darker background really helps the flowers stand out.
