Angry Dp now so slow

Is anyone else having trouble with this site?

It was very slow last night when I posted a photo, but every click of the mouse to change a page takes 17 to 20 seconds. This can't be right.

I have a very fast broadband and am not having this problem with any other site. Just checked the movement and it is instantaneous on other sites.

Re: Dp now so slow

Hi Audrey - I have not noticed any slowness today. But I will make enquiries with our hosting company.

Re: Dp now so slow

No problems with site speed this end, everything instantaneous and working as normal.

Audrey, I've deleted those 'Elements 11' posts for you.

Re: Dp now so slow

20 seconds to open this thread and yet from me clicking onto DPNow it is instantaneous, but then takes 17-20 seconds to open.

The little wheel goes round whilst the page is opening and it says ISPY in one of the tabs. It probably always says that - perhaps I haven't noticed before. Also at the bottom of my screen, yesterday it said DPNow temp files. I tried logging in by typing dpnow.com but it makes no difference.

The banner and side bar come up relatively quickly, but it is the rest of the page that takes up to 20 seconds.

It is not happening on any other site.

Audrey, it's just a thought but are you using McAfee antivirus software? If so do you have their McAfee SiteAdvisor software plugin installed? It's a horrible plugin!

I ask because I tried the McAfee SiteAdvisor software on another computer and it caused some pages to be very slow to open. DPN was slower but not too bad but the DM front page took forever! I uninsatlled the plugin eventually and just left the main AV proggie installed and that improved matters.

If you are using the siteadvisor plugin (a standalone plugin) and you want to uninstall it, the uninstall instructions can be found at ...

I've dumped "Chrome" in favour of "Firefox" and it makes a lot of difference in speed as well as some other improvements (less intrusive)

Re: Dp now so slow

I've been using Firefox for years but never had this problem before. Strange that I am the only one.

Re: Dp now so slow

Mine started taking 15-20 secs to load certain websites but not all a few days ago.Out of Ian's three sites I use this was the worst.
A reset of my hub cured it.

Can't explian why though.

Re: Dp now so slow

Are you both on BT Internet? I wonder if it is a DNS problem? BT may have switched DNS servers and your routers need a refresh to discover the new addresses?

Re: Dp now so slow

No problems here - and I'm on Chrome. Instant load - even though I'm on a very low broadband speed as I'm deeply rural (2mps advertised, doing well if I get 1!)
