Waiting for autumn

We walked several miles today and spotted four kingfishers who were not interested in being photographed, unlike the herons who sit very still hoping you haven't noticed them.

Here is one waiting for autumn.

Olympus OM D EM 1 mk11 coupled with 40-150 lens + 1.4 converter

Regards. Barr1e

Re: Waiting for autumn

Well spotted, Barr1e.

They adapt well. We see them in fields, eating frogs. They feed in rivers, ponds, and on the sea shore.
Cant imagine they ever go hungry for long.

Re: Waiting for autumn

The herons further downstream here in Apsley seem less timid at the moment. Of course, I didn't have my camera with me!

Re: Waiting for autumn

That looks a hefty old beast, Barr1e

We had a pet rat. (Wasn't really ours. Long story ) But he was friendly and liked being picked up.
They do have very big sharp teeth.

I like this photo. It's almost sepia.
