Photo critique Here is where you can display your images and seek the comment, advice and, maybe, constructive critique of your work. Only post your images here if you are happy for frank feedback. If in doubt, use the beginners board instead. Only post your comments here if you feel you can make a constructive and polite contribution in response to what is, for some, a leap of faith in exposing their work to your critical comment.

Re:Critique Required

I have just taken possession of a Canon Powershot S110 and would welcome comments on a photo that I took recently.

Re: Critique Required

A relaxing, peaceful scene taken in fine weather with attractive clouds complimenting the blue sky. The exposure is good and the camera produces nice colours. You have composed the shot well, capturing the essence of the location. I would, however, be inclined to crop off the man standing on the extreme left; he adds nothing to the scene and tends to draw the eye out of the picture, as do the flourescent markers below him.

Re: Critique Required

Hi John,

Thanks for your very helpful comments. I quite agree, that the markers and man, detract from the shot. I will edit them out.

Re: Critique Required

I agree with everything Jon said. In fact I downloaded your image last night and cropped where Jon suggested. I also cropped a bit of the foreground.

I would suggest that you make your images a little smaller so that we don't have to scroll. The view of your image is better when all of it can be seen at the same time.

Very full scene ... ... nice.

Re: Critique Required

Hi Autumn,
Thanks for your reply. Do you mean that I should make my image smaller, before uploading to DPNow? If so, what size should I use?

Regards

Bill

Re: Critique Required

I think 800 to 1000 pixels wide for landscape and 700 high for portrait and you should be able to see all the image at once.

These figures are only from memory, Ian or Pol will be able to confirm.

Cheers, Audrey
