Heron - Grey Wagtail + Kingfisher

A crazy day as Anne and I set off on one of our canal walks. It was amazing what we packed in just a morning. More pix to come at another time other than the bird ones shown here.

We have never seen more than one Heron in a situation before. It is too early for breeding, so I guess they might be family.

As we climbed steps from under a bridge we spotted a Grey Wagtail drinking from a puddle. The footpath is pretty wet in places after recent rain.

One of our aims this year was to try and capture a Kingfisher. Today we saw two.

Kingfisher

...and there he went.

Olympus E-5. All shots in A.Mode coupled with the 70-300 lens Most shots cropped fairly well.

What a productive walk Barr1e. Lovely pictures. I would like to photograph kingfishers like that. The only one I did was in Sri Lanka and it looked as though it had been in a fight!

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on the kingfisher shots .... they are very good. I have yet to capture one of these.
Never seen herons lined up like that before either. Looks like they are on guard duty.
The waggy is an achievement on its own ... little blighters rarely hold still to get photographed.

Beautiful set of shots. I have seen herons lined up like that - the most I ever saw was 9 in a field but spectacularly failed to get a shareable shot as they were so far away.

And the kingfishers are glorious. Don't think I'll show them to my partner or he'll be asking me to drive down there to see if we can see them!

Excellent the third shot of the kingfisher is awsome and sharp, bird not very big but enhanced by the surroundings.
Im jealous, never managed to capture a kingfisher!

Re: Heron - Grey Wagtail + Kingfisher

Thanks for the kind comments.

I hope I haven't upset the bird as Andy Elliott on www.fourthirds-user.com has corrected me. It is a she and not a he.
