Getting Airborne - Volcano or not

This was the second shot of a three pic take of a heron taking off. Unfortunately, due to oil drums (45 gallon type) in the nearby vegetation and the postion the heron was in when taken, hasn't given me an easy way to place it in the image. However it was the best of the three and I hope you like it.

Re: Getting Airborne - Volcano or not

Thanks Autumn and Pops.

I struggled somewhat, as I said, to determine the best way to show that shot. As can been seen by the portrait I posted over on the sister site www.fourthirds-user.com as seen below (Heron taking off 2).

I thought I would show the post in full.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

As the weather was so good this morning we decided to take pix instead of decorating, walked some distance along the canal which paid dividends to a degree.

We were surprised to see a heron leave the canal and fly about half a mile over land and soar quite effortlessly for some five minutes and some distance high.

NB The first pic is not too pleasing - so skip to other images below.

You're really getting the hang of these Heron shot Barr1e Superb results - you must be very satisfied. And I need to head up-stream a bit to find some herons as I haven't seen one in our neck of the woods for a while.

Oh wow - fantastic series of shots. I particularly liked the first one of the heron in flight but the sunbathing and take off are also very impressive. Excellent reflections.

Thanks for sharing these
