That was some Christmas present! I guess that made you believe there really was a Santa!

Re: I need some ideas...

For me I think the Leica Telyt series of telephotos, even the Visoflex models. I have a hankering after one to use with the E-M5. I have a 500mm Pentax f4 but it is such a beast I rarely use it and the slower Leicas may be a better option.

David's post reminded me of the modular telephotos Leica made in the 90's. If I recall correctly the was a 280mm f/2.8/400mm f/4/560mm f/5.6 set and a 400mm f/2.8/560mm f/4/800mm f/5.6 set.

Thumbs up Re: I need some ideas...

Old PEN film cameras were often used on microscopes, endoscopes, etc., often with "made up" adapters. With the vast range of adapters available for the FT/MFT bodies, very few if any of the old lenses and optical equipment could not be mounted onto an Olympus body.

Comparative shots could be produced using the same body and different lenses. The "Test Subject" would have to be consistent, such as a boat moored across the Thames, so that center and edge crops of the bow could show the lens attributes.

I'm sure a suitable location could easily be found nearby, that would provide for such, critical and subjective analysis, after all with "Old Glass" we wouldn't want a bunch of modern numbers clouding the mind, when an image can provide all that we need...

Sounds like great fun.

Re: I need some ideas...

I still have a Canon AE1 hidden in a drawer. I cut my teeth on an Argus C3 but have no clue whatever happened to it.

Then there's the Brownie my parents gave me in 1952......
