Urgently require an external hard drive

My desk top and laptop are bursting at the seams. I would like a 1Tb external hard drive.

Can you please suggest a reliable one. I have a Buffalo 500Gb which is showing red also.

I was looking at another Buffalo but there were a few negative reviews.

Any input asap please.

Re: Urgently require an external hard drive

I've used Western Digital, extensively and so far had no issues.

I only use the powered "My Book" versions as the USB on my laptop is not up to powering the "Passport" versions.

Another vote for the Western digital "My Book".

Currys have WD drives 2TB for £70 if you order online and pick up. They are desktop sized but excellent

I use three 1.5TB Samsung Story Stations, together with two 320GB Freecom Mobile XXS drives (that don't require separate power), and an assortment of others that have been kicking around for years. None have let me down so far.

Re: Urgently require an external hard drive

I have a 250Gb and a 500Gb - neither is big enough to back up my Desktop in total.

My decision is to have a 1Tb/1Tb+ to back up my Desktop and use the 500Gb Buffalo drive to back up the photos on my laptop.

So now I have made up my mind it is mainly for the Desktop, it does not have to be physically so small, although I would still like a fairly neat one. So back to the searches for the cheapest of the kind.

Re: Urgently require an external hard drive

At one time I believe we could get a discount if ordering something through DPNow. Is this still available?

Re: Urgently require an external hard drive

Hi Audrey, can't say I remember a discount scheme - but if it did happen it was a very long time ago.

However, if you order via Amazon you do generate a small commission for us if you use the correct link. If you can tell me precisely what it is you are ordering (if ordering from Amazon) I can provide the appropriate link.

Ian

http://astore.amazon.co.uk/digitalph...g=UTF8&node=45

This link should work - from there I would suggest searching for:

Buffalo DriveStation 1.0TB USB 2.0 External Hard Disk Drive

It's £61 with free postage if you opt for super saver and Buffalo is a dependable brand.

Ian

PS 2TB is only £15 extra - well worth it.

Re: Urgently require an external hard drive

Thanks for the link Ian, but I had already gone through Nectar and decided on the 2Tb WD My Book. Sorry.
