I'll be interested in seeing what you do with it.

Getting the cats to set it off as they do their stuff could be fun

Re: TriggerTrap

This Blackberry won't open the Trigger Trap page. Someone want to give me a quick description of what it is please.

Re: TriggerTrap

It's a way of controlling a camera via a dongle on the camera that communicates wirelessly with an app running on a smartphone. I don't think Blackberries are supported though. You can do various things including time lapse photography with variable time lapse rates and trigger the camera according to various types of sensor trigger in the smartphone.

Re: TriggerTrap

That sounds quite useful, I'll look into it when this Blackberry gets replaced in a months time.

Perhaps it's set on "Delay" mode

Re: TriggerTrap

My Triggertrap sample has arrived (All the way from Hong Kong - explains the delay).

Not yet connected it up but from what I can see, you plug the device at one end into the audio port of your tablet or smartphone so the communication and control is via audio tones. You then have a coiled cable linking the camera to the device plugged into the audio port, so it's not wireless as I had originally thought, which is a little disappointing.

But nevertheless, lots to try out!

Re: TriggerTrap

I'm not impressed that you have to buy an app as well as the hardware. I see that there is supposed to be a free limited functionality app but I can't seem to find that on the Google Play Store

On the other hand, they are working on a wireless solution and have bluetooth working in the lab. They think 10 metres is a bit too restricted for Bluetooth and hint they are working on something longer range.

Re: TriggerTrap

I'm already using a Teathered system so the wire is not overly tiresome, but a wireless one would have advantages.

The main use I have in mind is in capturing creatures as they move through an IR or low power laser beam (or PIR if that can be rigged to trigger the unit)

Currently I use HiViZ self build units http://www.hiviz.com/ But the Trigger Trap looks to be a whole lot more versatile.

Looking forward to seeing "Trap Shots" of your cats

Re: TriggerTrap

I'm finally up and running with Triggertrap on my Samsung Galaxy Note. I have the Olympus USB lead that will work with most Pen and E-System cameras apart from the E-1/300/3/5, and it works with the E-M5 too.

Off to play!

Re: TriggerTrap

If you have it set to trigger in "Sound" or "vibrate" mode and someone calls the phone, does it set off the camera

Re: TriggerTrap

I haven't tried that, yet, Graham.

But I did produce this time-lapse video clip shooting one frame every two seconds. I was going to record the dramatic fast moving clouds today - but by the time I was ready the sky became blue and cloudless!

The cat was tempted away half way by some food, after which she returned to her favourite spot, as you can see

This is 293 frames which took just under 10 minutes to shoot, and at 25fps playback of about 11 seconds.
