Up late or early, Patrick?

I love that bee crowd - well done!

Re: Salon 228 Insects

My two..

Both from a trip to Australia last year

This first one was on a Butterly farm at Karunda in Queensland.

The second I like a lot - partly because I was so surprised to see a dragonfly when I was walking around Uluru in 40 degrees

Re: Salon 228 Insects

I think a honey bee (not some kind of fly or wasp?) sipping nectar from lavender in our garden. Fairly confident it's a honey bee as there were quite a few of them. Nice to see them, which is rare at the moment; we mostly have bumble bees.

Has to be said this was only just taken in early evening, no sun, and it was a bit breezy, so ISO 6400 and a fair bit of cropping. But the results isn't too bad. Going to try harder for my second entry though!

Re: Salon 228 Insects

I'm in the Vendée, in mid-West France and this fella was outside the house we're staying at. To be honest the light was poor and I didn't have a macro lens fitted but it's not too bad - and hand-held

Re: Salon 228 Insects

Well ! I must thank you all for making this Salon very interesting.

There are some superb entries. It has made my job of choosing a winner difficult.

But on this occasion, I have decided that the winner is Gez with his Second Effort. The Shield bug.

Well done Gez. Smashing photo.

With 2nd place going to all the other terrific phots.

Over to you Gez.

Thanks Garry for running the Salon and selecting my effort from the many first class images.
