Two very different shoots (male and female portraits)

It's not often I get to shoot many guys but of late I have been doing a bit more. I also got the chance to shoot Freja again, 3rd time now. I find she is very much coming out of her shell and is getting better each time (think I am very lucky to have found her).
Settings on the Freja one are shot on the Fuji X-T2 with the Fuji 50-140mm lens. Settings iso 200,50mm,F2.8,1/320sec. Godox AD600 in octobox camera left set to TTL and fired with the Godox X1TF.

The ones of Carl are the same other then the flash being camera right. As always more on my flickr site

Re: Two very different shoots (male and female portraits)

And as per usual, I have checked your Flickr site out, Peter.

As per usual. they are really good.

The shot of Carl is great. I like the lighting. His pose is good, and makes him interesting.

He is looking straight at the camera in a questioning manner. ( if that makes sense. )

As for Freja

Absolutely love this powerful image.
The textures and tones of her skin, lips and hair, make this a winner.
It's dark and moody. But Freja has a nice little smile and the glint in her eyes help with her expression.

No doubt others will see these differently and have different views.

But I like them both. Thanks.

Re: Two very different shoots (male and female portraits)

Thanks Garry

Great feedback I like the of set pose he gave in this one and like you said makes it interesting. As for Fraja yes she has that little smile that just helps to pull of a moody look but with just a hint of a smile. I think in this case for the skin reasons I prefer the colour which I will post below

I can go with that. The colour photo is good.

Freja is very photogenic, and models well.

I agree. I think Freja is a lucky find for you.

Looking forward, to seeing more, of Freja.

Will you be using Carl again ? Has he any experience ? He doesn't look like a novice.

Re: Two very different shoots (male and female portraits)

Freja will be back for sure I think I may well be shooting with Carl again. He does not really have experience in front of the camera but he does also shoot but not for a while so I guess that helps as he knows what people are after. He just wanted some new profile pics and I was happy to help out with that and have a catch up with him as I had not seen him in a while

One more quick thing I will say is I have a plan to get Freja into a studio type set. So she can do a few outfit changes and be a bit warmer on a shoot. After all when you find a good one you have to look after them

Agreed ! I didn't think about the weather. It's getting colder.

I'm sure Freja will appreciate the warmth of a studio setting.

Re: Two very different shoots (male and female portraits)

Friday it was around 15 to 17c over here yesterday it dropped to around 12c with a bit of wind. We also did the shoot in an open park so yes just a bit chilly. I did say to her in the car on the way home about doing a studio type shoot and she was well up for it Not having a real indoor space is a pain for me (live in a small flat) I know you can get away with working in a small space but I do like room to set up lights and backdrops so will be on the look out for a place to hire in the next few weeks
