Where did the years go?

Continuing from the thread about me scanning old pics, negs and slides:

Life is a beach

The innocence of childhood on Christmas morning

What were we thinking about. So much wrong, hair, glasses, wallpaper, trusty old Lubitel

Aaaaah, I LOVE the second picci of the two boys on Christmas morning. It reminds me so much of our own sons way back when Santa Claus still existed.

Our second son had his 37th birthday last week and was miserable all day because he said he felt 'old and past it' ...

The comment about the "trusty old Lubitel" (second photo) reminded me of a picci which is on the wall behind my desk - and it's been there for many years because I can't bear to take it down.

Our youngest son was thrilled to find an old Lubitel 2 amongst the clutter in our eldest son's cupboard. He grabbed it and clung to it, played with it for ages. Our eldest son took the attached photo, developed it and printed it in his darkroom at college.

The son in the picture is now going on 30, the eldest, who took the picci, is 39 .. and I'm the saddo 'mummikins' who can't bear to take the picci down from behind my desk.

I think the Lubtel had been acquired from a charity shop. Don't think it was ever used to take pics but the little'un loved it and wouldn't give it back.

Re: Where did the years go?

:-) Mine not quite as old Pol. Big yin will be 30 this year. That picture really did bring a tear to my eye when I saw it to be honest. (not as much as the self portrait with the missus, but that was for other reasons!!)
As for the Lubitel, I remember paying 12 for it at a camera show. My first venture into medium format film. Bottom line I guess is money was in extremely short supply in these days. We bought what we could and that was us.

Lubitel? Sounds like Andy Pandy's mobile phone network!

Seriously - not played with one of those before, but I have had some fun with Pentacon 6 and Zorki iron curtain cameras, amongst others!

That would be LubiLooTel! 12 for a twin lens reflex was actually a great introduction to medium format. Never did manage to get enough money together to get a big boy one.
