Photo critique Here is where you can display your images and seek the comment, advice and, maybe, constructive critique of your work. Only post your images here if you are happy for frank feedback. If in doubt, use the beginners board instead. Only post your comments here if you feel you can make a constructive and polite contribution in response to what is, for some, a leap of faith in exposing their work to your critical comment.

And another pano....

...but this one's a bit corny, if you'll pardon the pun

A 4 shot pano shot on the way through the bottom half of the peak district.

Quite happy with the stitching on this one (PTGui) but the lighting was a bit tricky so I used CS2's shadows / highlights command to lift the foreground out of the gloom a little.

I like pano shots and this one is a nice scene, although I do find the line of the corn tops draws my eye and is very strong was that intentional as it runs through the top of the gate, just my observation though

I think this is another superb technical job, though I do agree that the contrast of the crop in the field is, initially, a bit of a shock

But it's an image that you can revisit and explore over and over. The exposure is very good - nice and crisp.

Re: And another pano....

I really enjoy these kind of pics - i.e. with contrasting tonal streaks within the land bit of a landscape. I feel a bright streak here and there balances the brightness of the sky. I agree its good to try and draw a bit more detail out of the shadowed areas and am experimenting myself with this but am learning that its a bit of a fine balance not to lighten it up too much and make it look flat - I think you have done it just right in this pic.

There's an open exhibition of Turner paintings on at the Tate at the moment and his use of tonal variation is very explicit and interesting from a photography point of view in that he often almost underexposes and overexposes different areas in the same image.

Re: And another pano....

A superb pano and image, I like the sweep of the landscape and the sky and the mood of an approaching bad weather front.
