At Manchester Airport walking between between Arrivals and the Train Station after holidaying in Spain. Suprised how blue it is - must have been reflecting our mood.
nice one there-looks sort of space age well caught & good luck
ok have no idea if my pic is going to load but here goes. oh & its a pic of my son at the lazer bowling looks a bit fuzzy but it was because it was dark with blue lazer lights
sorry all i accidently deleted the image from my gallery & obviously it went from my original posting here & there was no edit button on original post to add the link
Thanks Autumn for running the last competition and congratulations to Archangel and Bearface for being runners up.
THE THEME FOR THIS SALON IS
B L U E
Hopefully, you will see lots on potential for interpreting this, and I would encourage a bit of lateral thinking if at all possible.
The closing date for the competition will be noon GMT on the 14th January.
Here are the rules. Please take a moment to read them prior to shooting or uploading your submissions.
1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission
Good Luck to you all, don't forget there is a 2GB memory card up for grabs here
Difficult theme this time as unable to find anything that wasn't cliche! Hope not too late.
Struggled a little with this one, I was actually having trouble sleeping as I knew we were coming to the end of this Salon, and didnt want to not enter.
So here I am at just gone 3am, having jumped out of bed after trying to sleep for four hours and decided to enter this one.
Sir Jackie Stewart in his Blue F1 car!
Good luck all on a great salon competition by Stephen.....I really dont envy you having to judge this one as there are some amazing shots!
Thanks everyone for their entry in the Salon competition, there were 27 photos this time which I think is a good amount, especially as quite a few openly admit it was not an easy subject to come up with a photo for.
Now if I'm honest its been quite a tricky one for me, not to mention the dilemma I've had in not wanting to appear as if I was showing any favouritism. However at the end of the day quality, and interpretation has to win through, and its that and my own personal gut feeling for which I like that has at last brought me to a decision.
So Third place goes to Josh Bear for his picture at Henley on the Thames
I really liked the feel of the photo, it was quiet and calm and the eye was led by the aircraft contrails into the picture, the theme fitted the picture well too.
In Second place I placed Martins picture taken at Manchester Airport
Again I loved the picture, it is just so BLUE. However the converging lines led the eye into the scene, it was like something from a sci fi film. It also brought back memories of my own journies down that very walkway to the station. Great picture Martin.
So in First place, I really had to award it to Bearface for his picture of pouring the blue wine into the glass
As he's a personal friend, to win, his picture had to be clearly better than the rest, not only in fulfilling the criteria of the theme, but also technically and artistically. Tim has interpreted the theme with a skillful and clever image, timed to perfection, and with spot on presentation.
So, congratulations go to Bearface for winning, but also to Martin and Josh for their excellent pictures too. Indeed, well done to everyone who entered.
Its over to you now Tim, and oh you can change yer avatar and sig back now
Stephen I think you are spot on with the winner, when I saw it I just thought wow. Ok so bearface used a studio set up to shot this with but all the same it probably was not easy to do. I know how hard it is messing about with water when I did my water droplets.
