Photo critique Here is where you can display your images and seek the comment, advice and, maybe, constructive critique of your work. Only post your images here if you are happy for frank feedback. If in doubt, use the beginners board instead. Only post your comments here if you feel you can make a constructive and polite contribution in response to what is, for some, a leap of faith in exposing their work to your critical comment.

Winter sunrise over Connaught Water, Epping Forest

John P will remember this as it was taken during an e-group outing that I think he largely arranged in November 2008

Thumbs up Re: Winter sunrise over Connaught Water, Epping Forest

I have one that looks remarkably similar

At first I thought I'd got the colours wrong, but then I saw other peoples and realised that it really did look like that.

This is a superb example of the way to catch the first light, along with a good eye for composition.

It's also a reminder of a very enjoyable day out with a great bunch of guys, which is maybe the true value of photographs...

That's very nice, Ian, and I remember it well.

Graham, I think you have hit upon an essential reason why we take photographs - they're either to share at the time or share later, with like-minded people who have the ability to truely value what they see in the world around them.

Graham - I did warm this one up by tweaking the white balance

Those colours are fabulous. It's a nice picture, a beautiful scene but the colours are what makes it memorable, for me anyway.

Its a beautiful scene and reminds you that sometimes it is worth getting up early if you want to capture scenes like these

I'd try some HDR on this to give it more tonal range!
