Something I often observe, whenever I view images on a computer screen, is the effective cropping that occurs when scrolling to view what follows...
With both the Colour and the B&W, for me the image composition is improved by cropping the top, down to a point where the large dark branch, that reaches out to the top RH corner, extends from its trunk.
The center of convergence, of the trees, being slightly left of center also provides for a further crop, that removes some of the extremely slanted trees, to the right of the main foreground tree, and brings the convergence point to the middle of the picture.
The image is then of a shape that lends itself to becoming the cover of the CD case, in which the pictures of the trip are stored.
