Advice Needed

I have just received a panic email from my daughter who is backpacking abroad. "When I try to open the photos on the computer, I'm getting a message up saying that they have been corrupted". She says she can see them no problem on the camera.
Any advice that I can send back to her?
Any help appreciated.
Tom

Re: Advice Needed

Can she try opening them on another computer? Has she used the same computer before and is she using a camera lead or a card reader? Perhaps the reader or lead needs a clean or is on it's way out. Is she anywhere near a photographic shop where the shots can be put on a cd for her ?

Not sure is it makes a difference uploading to a pc, but when using my ipod and camera usb lead to upload to I have to have the camera communication set to normal on mine.

Stu

Edit

Is it just on the latest batch of shots she has the problem or are they all corrupted, plus are other files corrupted? If so does she keep her virus software up dated and running regular scans? Reason I ask is it may be a problem with a virus or the computer is just having a wobbly, if windows xp she could try going back to a restore point and see if that helps.

Tom

On a recent cruise I was unable to view my images on the tv. They kept on rolling.

My camera was set to PAL so I changed the setting to NTSC and there they were!

PAL is the European setting and NTSC is for the US and Caribbean and Asia etc.

Quote:
NTSC is the analog television system in use in Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, the United States, and some other countries, mostly in the Americas (see map). It is named for the National Television System(s) Committee, the U.S. standardization body that adopted it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC

Hope this helps and that is all that is the matter.

Audrey

Re: Advice Needed

Many thanks Autumn and Goatsmilk.
I referred her to your replies and happily I received a mail this morning saying that she tried it in another computer and everything is fine now. Thanks again
