Last evening was the first meeting of the new season at the Photo Club which is traditionally opened with Famous for Ten Minutes, a number of members have ten minutes to show some of their work, always a good evening.

My evening was made particularly good in that I was made by the club an Honorary life member and presented with an engraved tray to mark the occasion.
There is nothing quite like being recognised in this way by those around you.

Dp now doesn't appear to have a smilies for proud so i will make do with

Many congratulations Patrick, as you say its great to be recognised in this way by your peers. I suspect though that you are one of the members that help keep the club running and a place others want to be.

I was a committee member for about 18 years, Competition secretary for 5 years, then Exhibition Secretary for one year President twice and back to Competition Secretary I then stood down two years ago from any committee work but continue to be involved in helping in any way I am asked, also fronting workshops from time to time. You get out of a club what you put in I always think.
Others have been just as active and three other Life Memberships were given last night. Its about 15 years since the last life membership was given now four all at once, I think the new committee felt it was time for some catching up.

Many congratulations Patrick. You will be able to "Strut your Stuff" when you come to our Club in a week or two.

I don't think that we have many life members in our club. We have one elderly man of about 93 who has been in almost since the club started, so I guess he could be a life member.

You sound as though you need a well deserved rest from committee work after all your official duties over the years.

Its nice to be given something just to say thank you for all the hard work that you have put into something especially when it's not something that you are expecting.

I like the famous for ten minutes thing. I think it would work well at our club as well after the summer break just to show people what you have been up to.
