I am a retired engineer, living in Somerset. I became interested in photography in my 20s but during my middle years I never really had the time or money to spare, so my interest waned. Since I retired, however, it has been regenerated by increased holiday travel. In an attempt to revive my photographic education, I joined a local Camera Club. I still have a huge amount to learn, and although the pleasure I get from my hobby is still most important to me, I am trying to take this learning seriously.
When younger, I shot with a Canon AE-1 but through the middle years I used a succession of compact cameras, both film and digital until our first African Safari when I traded up to a Sony DSC H-1 bridge camera. Since taking my photography more seriously, I have moved to Olympus DSLRs, starting with an E-520 twin lens kit (14-42mm and 70-300mm) and more recently adding an E-30 plus 50mm f2 macro and 12-60mm f2.8 lenses.
