May the show go on
Actually, that should be 'shows' (plural). CES (and a rather damp squib of a PMA@CES) has finished for this year, and so has the UK's SWWP (wedding photography) show in London. If, like me, you thought that CES (apart from the Fujifilm X-Pro1) was a little disappointing from the photography viewpoint, don't worry - there are plenty more shows to come. In fact you may be all showed-out by the end of the year.
My calendar tells me that the next big international photography show is CP+ in Yokohama, Japan. I have a hunch that some camera companies have held back product launches from CES specially for CP+, which starts in just over three weeks time (9th February).
Closer to home for DPNow is the Focus on Imaging show at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre from March 4th. I'm annually amazed at how busy this show is despite the linger economic problems in Europe.
I'm sure there are other important photo-related dates, but the Big Daddy of them all takes place from 18th-23rd September - yes, it's Photokina time. This mega photo trade show takes place every two years in Cologne, Germany, and is the largest photography event in the world. You can be sure that there will be big announcements there.
