I can't find in the manual what the Maximum Flash Trigger Voltage is for a Sekonic L-308s Flash meter.

Anyone know ???

Thanks

iirc it's got a PC socket so should work with any PC enabled flash, regardless of trigger voltage. unless i've got thew wrong end of the stick.....

Very few flashguns have PC connections (I have only one that has) so they are mounted onto a hotshoe with a PC socket connected with a lead to the flash meter for triggering. The problem is if I put one of my big old flashguns on there that has high voltage at the contacts, will I fry the meter.:(

I guess it's another trip to Maplins for an Opto-Isolator etc...:\

Phoned the UK "Technical Help" line, asked the question, and the reply:

"Havn't got a clue mate"...

To be fair he asked someone else, who also didn't know but guessed at a very safe number...

Then he gave me the e-mail of someone who "demonstrates" all this type of stuff at trade shows "he should know"

SO:

The guy "who should know" and the office in Japan, where they make the things now have e-mails. :\

If only this was in the manual

The saga todate:

Question: what is the maximum voltage I can trigger with my L-308s meter via the PC socket

Answers range from 4.5 Volts to 400 Volts

These all come from the so called "technical specialist" help lines, e-mails, tech sales, agents, etc..

The only answer that I have no issue with was "havn't a clue mate" - at least that wasn't incorrect information that could lead to me frying the meter with one of my 360 Volt heads.

I find it incredible that the manufacturers have not even bothered to reply.

I'm getting around the problem by using a low voltage gun to fire the others off slaves. But it would have been so much easier to just plug in the heads and trigger them directly.

Off to Maplins to get the bits to build some isolators. That way I can fire off whatever I like, with the cameras as well and nothing will get fried...

Now all I have to do is figure out how to make this thread "SOLVED"
