UPDATE: And the winner of this salon is... (http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?p=6502#post6502)

Dear All,

Thanks to Andrew for running the last competition and for picking my picture in the midst of so much great competition. I hope you enjoy this one. The competition opens now and will run till 12.00pm on Sunday the 17th of December. The theme this time is Emotions.:) :p :\ :D  *inlove

Good luck to all. I will post the results as soon as possible after the close.

Here are the rules. Please take a moment to read them prior to shooting or uploading your submissions.

1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission

Best Regards

Bother - didn't realise the other one had finished and have just spent the afternoon (on my old computer with most of my photos on it) looking for 'perspective' shots.

Back to the drawing board...

This is a great theme. This time I thought I'd get my entry in early, especially since Andrew's take on the theme loosely reflects my own :D

http://dpnow.com/galleries/data/576/056x.jpg

There's a nice story to accompany this shot too. Romantic even... *inlove

The photo is from a series taken of the two models - Gordon and Suzanne - earlier this year at my studio. We were shooting some commissioned stock images for a client of mine and also some portfolio images for the two models, who at the start of the shoot had never met one another. Anyway, I needed some quite intimate "couply" shots and I was amazed at how easily they both found the poses and how comfortable they seemed with one another. A couple of times I raised my eyebrows to Gordon (who I've worked with many times in recent years) in a bid to gauge his impression of Suzanne and I could see he really liked her, and judging by Suzanne's body language, it appeared that the feeling was mutual.

Finally, the shoot ended and we all set of to our respective homes. A few weeks later I spoke to Gordon about something unrelated and he mentioned that he and Suzanne had been "dating" almost since the shoot. That was over seven months ago............they're still a couple as I write *chr

Anyway, because of the background story, I look at this particular image with a degree of pride, because the chemistry between these guys was genuine and I captured their first meeting.

Thanks for reading my intro *zzz

I'd keep an eye on that fella, I photographed him with another woman and from where I was standing they seemed to be having a pretty good time :\

Here's my first time entry -- not a technical masterpiece, but definitely in the theme. Even 6-years-old players compete with intensity. This shot could change leaders, even though scores are not kept (but everyone keeps track anyway). My grand-daughter is #2.

Excellent subject choice.

I had great pleasure in going through all my pictures and selecting a choice, but as it is the season to be be jolly.......

Joy!

This is my nephew Brennan, who has starred in many of my pictures, he is mad keen on coconut shys (spelling?) and is a bit of a demon on 'em!

Heres the one from his school fete, and I decided to print this out on A3 poster size so he could pop it on his wall. :)

Hi,

Here's my entry - the first since joining. The subjects are my grand nephew and his grandfather. It's the first grandchild for him. The baby was born three months early. Emotions were high for the first few weeks. The boy is doing just fine now.

First week gone and it is great to see so many entries and from first time posters as well. Welcome all.

If you are lurking behind the scenes, come in and post, very friendly atmosphere and "you have to be in it to win it"

there is a small chance I have borrowed that phrase.:o

Jim, that's a very touching picture. The baby looks well and very content, yet his grandad still looks a wee-bit apprehensive.

A very special one for the family album.

My first entry....

I suppose I should call this "I wish...."... or, "she wishes!"

Sorry it's a bit dark - taken at Madame Tussauds, daughter of a friend visiting from America. She also wanted one taken with Robert Mugabe - but her parents would NOT approve of that one!

This overexposed and somewhat blurred shot was taken about a hundred years ago (early 70's acutally) with my first 35 mm camera, a Voigtlander rangefinder. I was sitting on the front step loading a roll of film when the neighbour's son (on the left) and his cousin saw me and wanted their picture taken. As soon as I pointed the camera at them, they started laughing and didn't stop for about five mintues.

Dear All,

A lot of really great entries and picking a winner has been very hard. However for me the winner is Autumn with the picture "youngest grandson having a few tears (http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?p=5911#post5911)". I love the eye contact and the raw emotion being demonstrated.

2nd place goes to Andrew Thatcher (http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?p=5357#post5357) for the really creative use of lighting

and 3rd place to Bearface (http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?p=5405#post5405). Great composition and extremely sharp.

Thanks all. I look forward to seeing the next competition.

Splendid salon and excellent choice, Josh. :)

Wonderful picture from Autumn. He's such a cute little chap and with such a nice hat too - just like our middle son used to be, right down to the chubby cheeks, sad tears and the ever-present hat. *LOL

Congratulations, Autumn - and I think thoroughly deserved! And a second time winner too :)

Autumn is also the first winner of the additional prize I managed to secure through deal with Kingston Technology and she will soon be receiving an excellent 2GB Kingston Ultimate memory card (Autumn - PM me with the card format you need).

I also noticed that the top three judged were monochromes - interesting.

Thank you all for your congratulations.

I am still thinking of a theme for the next salon.

Ian. I really would like an ultra small mate for my Fuji S9500 and G3. As I have plenty of contact flash media, I need to buy a new camera to match new small media - say SD. Got to work on my significant other (I picked that term up from Tim, Bearface - I like it - well it's better than "Him indoors" or "The husband.") It could be our joint Christmas present to each other.

I'll be in touch.
