DPNow Salon Competition No 67 Lonely
A photographer gave a talk at our club illustrated with photographs. Throught the talk he referred to the fact that his photos nearly always expressed loneliness, The photos were quite diverse and included photos of people as well as items and scenes. It became quite apparent what he was illustrating. So your task is to express the subject and give it atmosphere.therefore Salon No 67 is Lonely

The closing date for entries will be Saturday 18th July and the winners will be announced on Sunday 19rd July

Oh and as always, here are the Rules:-

1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixels wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.

2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else.)

4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.

5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

6) The curators decision is final.

7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.

9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.

10) As with all photos posted on DPNow,copyright remains the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

The Prize is the choice of either CF 8GB Ultimate or a SDHC 8GB Class 6 memory card.

I saw this little girl at Hong Kong Airport. She had travelled alone from the UK and was awaiting Airport Assistance.

She looked so lonely cuddling her toy. I call it "Lone Traveller"

Lonely ...

The loneliness of old age remembering the carefree days of youth, the gregarious days of friendship. Only her dog for company now.

Hope I'm not too late - here's my entry. This lighthouse stands here alone in all weather, at high tide, the sea laps around its base.

AND THE WINNERS ARE:

THis was difficulto to choose. Dianne had a major disagreement over the top image but cause it was my job I won (this time).

Third place goes to Pol - Timing was everything in taking this photo. There is a variety of
expesssions on the old ladies face - great shot.
Second place goes to Pediwane. A scene of despair and neglect. very powerful
First place goes to Dave Ritchie (mib2). This shot has real atmosphere. The off centre
footprints, the person standing in the water and the mist combine to give a feeling of isolation and loneliness - well done Dave - your turn now !!
