View Full Version : DPNow not displaying correctly
I use Firefox and certain parts of this forum are not now displaying correctly.
If I click on say, Realtime or New Posts, and then click on the thread, I only see the first post. If I click on the last post, I only see the last post. I have tried to enter through Google but it is still the same.
If I view through Internet Explorer, everything is OK.
All other sites I view through Firefox are OK.
I first noticed this last Sunday, but have been away from Mon-Thurs so could not do anything before.
I got Windows Vista Mag with "Your essential PC healthcheck" cd and used it (just noticed the smilies aren't working for me either!)
So I have done two System Restores to as far back as the 8th May to no avail.
Could this be a Firefox fault or is it something within DPNow?
I don't want to go back to using IE so would like the FFvDPNow fixing if anyone can help me.
I can't even attach the photo under "Attach Files" but I can upload to my gallery.

Audrey, try clicking on Display Modes up in the top right of the DPNow page and then choose Linear mode. I suspect this will solve the issue. Its nothing to do with Firefox

Stephen, I forgot to say that I had tried this.
None of the tabs work - Thread details, Search this thread, Rate thread, Display thread.
They all link me to the Quick Reply Box. I am only able to view first and last posts.
Also whilst writing this reply to you I click the back button to see where the tabs linked me to and lost this reply and had to type it again!
Anything else you can suggest?
Thanks.

Audrey it appears you are in Threaded Mode at present, but the contents of the thread are not appearing in the box atm. It should contain the 6 posts made in the thread. Switching to Linear Mode should have solved the problem, the box will go altogether and the 6 posts appear in full under each other. If this is not happening then I'm stumped, sorry :)

I realise this. I am unable to switch to Linear Mode as there is no drop down menu. As I said if I click on Display Mode it shoots me straight to the Quick Reply Box.

Wonder if you logged out and then log back in whether it would make a difference, as some cookies are removed. Just clutching at straws you understand :)

No, didn't work.

No, didn't work.
I suggest you uninstall Firefox and re install it again.
I run Firefox under Vista and I have had no problems.

So you think it's a Firefox issue Patrick?
I must say I'm rather sceptical of that

I looked into that Patrick a week ago but didn't really have time to investigate it properly.
I have just joined the FF Forum so if they don't come up with something in the next couple of days. I will install and reinstall.

Reinstalling FF will no doubt lose all your favourites/bookmarks and a lot of other stuff like plugins you might have. I still think its a site issue and wonder whether you should delete all your cookies, shut down and then reboot. Still just clutching at straws though :)

A DP site issue?
DP Now works OK on IE?

I think something has got corrupted, perhaps instead of uninstalling and installing again try installing over the existing installation this may then repair any damaged files and should leave bookmarks and things in place.

I have just reinstalled in, but the fault is still there.

There has got to be a setting somewhere that was changed accidentally.

Which I believe uses a different set of cookies to Firefox. You can delete all cookies in IE but Firefox will retain ones it has accrued. I know its a slim possibility but if you go into the FF preferences and find the Delete cookies command, then reboot, it has to be worth a try

Cleared cookies, run CCleaner, rebooted, still the same.:(
... ... but not quite the same ... ... Smilies worked this time.
*clap*clap*clap
As the smilies now work, I thought I would test the Display Mode - that worked. I changed to Linea and Yay!! everything is now displayed.
Perhaps CCleaner did its job! Or was it deleting the cookies? After I had deleted the cookies and rebooted, it was still displaying the same, but I did not try to alter the display mode. It was only when I tried to use a Smilie and found I could that I tried the Display Mode.
Thanks all for your tips and help.

Hi Audrey
I used to use CCleaner and was delighted with the junk it cleaned out, but then my machines started to play up so badly I thought they had serious hardware problems, eventually both crashed within days of each other (I was running XP then) The only common factor was CCleaner, I don't use it now and I have had (touch wood) no problems.
It may have been coincidence I know CCleaner is well thought of.
Patrick
I have been using it for a few years now but I had also done some tweaks following info from an internet site, because FF was hanging during browsing. It may have been the tweaks that messed things up. I don't know. I will see how things go. ATM everything is OK, thanks.
