Thank you Jojo for the running to the last salon! It was a fantastic topic!
And here is mine:
F r u i t
Specifically the edible variety. ;)
Sounds simple enough, no? Maybe not as easy as some!
This is a Challegene for your creative side! Some images are so fantastic they make themselves, but what can you do with a mere piece of F r u i t that will make an interesting and eye catching photo? (It doesn't have to be JUST fruit but the fruit has to be part of the impact of the photo!)
This Salon will Close at Midnight on February 3rd.
Here are the rules. Please take a moment to read them prior to shooting or uploading your submissions.
1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread. Please keep photos to max 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else).
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time.
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

Well the competition gets tougher, especially the last competition which drew some great shots. I changed my mind daily about which should be the winner. Here's my attempt at a fruitful entry:

Ok, I'm sorry if this challenge was a little weird, but I would like to share the image that inspired me to pick fruit! I just picked up a magazine called JPGMAG and in it they had a whole section on fantastic food photos along with this one... Cherries (http://www.jpgmag.com/photos/1069640) which got me thinking. So I wanted to see what others would come up with when they thought of fruit. :) Very different all around. But still great effort and photos on such an odd subject!
So I'll stop babbling now and announce the winners!
In 3rd place: Peter!
http://dpnow.com/galleries//data//500/Strawberries_and_chocolate_sauce.jpg
His image not only made me drool but inspired my desert for dinner last weekend. ^_^
Ok 3rd was tough, there were a few I liked! Horacio, your's made me giggle first time I saw it. :) Veggiesosage, great macro! They look like little fruity gemstones! And Gez, great eye to see something that small in the squirrels mouth! You must have either a really good zoom lens or really fearless squirrels!
In 2nd place: Gina!
http://dpnow.com/galleries/data//631/medium/fruitslice-dpsalonweb.jpg
For creativity and color!
And the first place goes to: Pewidane!
http://dpnow.com/galleries//data//500/B0002497-2.jpg
The blue in the background, the focus, and the sun soaking fruit and bright yellow/orange was just striking to me. :)
Thank you all for playing! ^_^ Congrats to teh winners.

To be honest I wanted to claim a tie for first place but couldn't remember if that was allowed. I kept going back and forth between you and Gina. I was gong to claim Gina first and and had it all se tup but every time I went back to the crabapples it just .. I dunno! So Gina, so you know, you made if very very tough to choose! I really liked yours too!
Congratulations to Pedar, Gina and Peter. Excellent photos.
Yes, congratulations Pedar - a worthy winner (tho I also LOVED Gina's , and Peter's was definately good enough to eat.:D)
And thanks to Mr Lens for such a challenging subject, roll on the next one!
Regards,
Neil
Well done Pedar
I will look forward to the next competition.
Thanks for the feedback, I really enjoyed making the fruit sculpture and eating it afterwards. I must admit, it involved a lot of work and was the most time consuming salon entry to date. I appreciate your comments Pedar and everyone. Also well done to Peter too and in fact all entrants in this salon.
Great theme Life in a lens xx
Looking to you Pedar!:D
Congratulations Peder indeed and very well done Gina too for the comments and great picture. :)
My entry still sits in my Gallery. I just wasn't happy with it and have not had 5 mins to my self to have another go at it as I am having the back of my house extended, a twelve week job so I am without a kitchen and have loads to do here and at work!!
Congrats again :)

A special 'Congrats' to you Gina. Well thought out, well set up, and a picture actually taken to meet the challenge rather than trolling through the archives.
My inspiration went on strike!
Roger
Cheers Roger,
Thanks a lot, yes this time I did something just for the salon. I always think about what I could do especially for a comp', but it's not always easy because of my mobility. I enjoyed creating my edible art anyway. :D
Here's a couple of other images edited.

It ... it looks like a fruit bird! or fruit slug depending on which way you look at it. ^_^ Neat! And yeah the dark background looks really great on it too.
