View Full Version : Fortnightly Salon Competition No 50 - Odd One Out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks everybody especially Words who obviously knows a thing or two about photography, for choosing my picture as the winner.
The theme for Odd One Out is, finding the weed amongst the roses, the cat amongst the pigeons etc. Please use your imagination.
This competition opens now and ends on Friday 10th October, at midnight.
GOOD LUCK!
Here are the rules. Please take a moment to read them prior to shooting or uploading your submissions.
1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission
11) Have fun
Best of Luck Everyone
Gez

Mmmmm very interesting Theme, I hope this is'nt going to be the death of its own Title!!:\ Even trudging through my hard drive I cant really come up with a shot good enough to post on this one, guess Ill have to do one to order, or is that the whole point?*LOL
Better if the Competition stretches you rather than pull something from your files. Actually it's not that difficult - a group of adults admiring a child etc. would qualify.
Gez.
Ok, I'll kick off whilst I can. *LOL (Tomorrow I go into hospital for a torn ligament operation and have to have my leg in plaster for 8-10 weeks - non weight bearing!)
That'll be fun for Roy.:)
This photograph was like this - with the single green lounger, I have just saturated it a bit. It was taken in Majorca last September.

Sorry about your torn ligament - hope everything goes well for you. Big thanks for starting the Competition off.
Gez.
Hi Audrey -
Don't get the giggles with the laughing gas.
Anne and I wish you well.

I believe that this man's attitude picture might well qualify for this category!!
The women looks like asking herself " Is this man fool?
http://dpnow.com/galleries/data//577/This-guy-is-fool--.jpg (http://dpnow.com/galleries/showphoto.php/photo/13534)
I would say it qualifies - it seems to ooze menace - excellent photo.

Here's one from me Gez. Taken in Etosha National Park, Namibia on our recent holiday.

Thats really good - I also like the elephant shot with the baby walking in the line. All a very high standard.

Hubby thought I was a bit mad when he got home from work and found the kitchen side covered in Toy Story aliens, but never mind. *LOL
Some of these latest entries are hilarious, superb!

Hehe, thank you. I'd like to be able to claim that the little figurines belong to my daughter, but that would be a lie - I have a huge collection of Toy Story merchandise. Is there a 'blushing' smiley I can insert now? *LOL
There you go!

....is not like the other kids.
one of these kids just isn't the same
There's some cracking entries - don't envy the job of judging...
But that last one from Devilgas really did make me smile :D
LOL Dave - so funny. 'Is there something you'd like to share with the group?'
Although there are some great entries in the Competition there is still time to enter your photo - closing at Midnight tonight.

The three on the left are engaged in an interesting conversation about Paris Hilton...the guy of the left, seated, is checking to see if his Botox is working yet...the girl is wondering why her boyfriend didn't call last night...the lady next to her is praying to God about her husband having cancer...the guy in the next seat is sucking his thumb and the girl in the last seat is like, "WTF?!?!?!?" ...the lady on the right is simply outta here...

Thanks for the great photos. After a long deliberation the results in reverse order.
Third - Ryme intrinseca - great use of depth of field.
Second - Coupekid - love the cat's expression.
First - Jojo - great shot, getting the giraffe into position must have been an effort.
Well done to everyone. Congratulations Jojo! (Best of luck with the next Comp.)
Congratulation Jojo - wonderful picture. Also congrats to Coupekid and Ryme intrinseca.
Thanks also to Gez for curating.
 OMG, I am truly dumbstruck, I would never have expected in a month of Sundays to be picked as the winner (cheers Gez *chr) - there were so many fantastic entries. Congratulations to Coupekid and Ryme intrinseca *clap and many thanks to Gez for a great theme. Once I've stopped turning cartwheels *crazy I'll get my thinking cap on for the next one.

A white deer - where was the pic taken, Barr1e? We saw one yesterday at Arne, near where I live, but it was too far away for a decent photo.
Well done JoJo, great picture! It's ace winning one isn't it, I couldn't believe it when mine was chosen a while back, I jumped all around the back room here when I read that I won!!! :D
Congrats to the runners up too, such a hard salon to judge!
