I must admit I thought that the long-rumoured full frame D3X was going to be unveiled yesterday. But the D80 was also long overdue for replacement. The inclusion of 720p HD movie recording is logical, especially as Nikon has no competing camcorder business in-house. However, it remains to be seen how useful such a mode will be for serious movie making as DX lens autofocus is not designed for movie recording.

I have to say that I'm impressed with Nikon's drive at the moment. They have a feature rich and progressive model line up, while Canon's range looks distinctly confusing and (in the 5D) out of date.
