View Full Version : FIA GT Championship @ Silverstone
Having always been interested in formula 1 and motoracing in general you might find it hard to beleive I have only ever been to a gokart race*LOL
Ive always wanted to go to silverstone to see the formula one, but either could not afford the 70 quid per day entrance fee or could not attend at the time. So the other night I booked online for the FIA GT Championship at silverstone which is on 18,19 & 20 april, fri sat sun.
Why not the f1 you may be thinking, well its only a tenner to get in, as apposed to the 70quid for the f1. So for a tenner Ill get the drama of silverstone together with some very fast racing cars, and Ill watch the british grand prix at home for free thanks:D

And guess what its forcast cloudy, but do we ever beleive the weather? Just doing a pre check on eq etc as I type, well in and amongst. Anyone else attending on the forum or is it on my shoulders to bring you back some pics:\
I have Thomas as my assistant so if I fail to deliver im sure he will get some cracking shots*LOL
Its on men and motors at 5pm on saturday so might even be on telly! ello mum:D
I think a few of us will be there with you in spirit if not in body. Looking forward to seeing the photos. Hope you have a great time.
WOW what a day:eek:
First of all as we pulled off the motorway I heard a sound that I thought the car was having problems, then in the distance I noticed a large structure that was the main stand, the butterfly's started and the exitement grew, I realised it was the roar of the gt cars! And serriously what a sound it was:D
Maybe ill get a big bore exhaust on the touran! maybe not:o
Truely awsome is the only way I can describe the noise out of these machines as we walked into the grounds and upto a big mesh fence with gt cars flying bye at over 100mph.
Unfortunately this exitment was not shared by my family namely my wife and thomas. As soon as we got out of the car thomas wanted his ear defenders, which I suppose is acceptable seen as he is only 4, and the missuz was vaguely exited. Thomas lasted about an hour then he was bored stupid, the missuz was anoyed because she had to keep thomas happy while I was taking some pics, it all got a bit fussy and heated should I say!
Then we found the fairground rides which were actually free all day! So then thomas was happy as larry! And Ann was happy too.
At this point your probly thinking Im a selfish bar stool, ok maybe your right just for one day!!!*LOL
I was miffed at how high the mesh fenses were and theres probly only a couple of places around the whole circuit that you can get clear shots without going into the stands, but then you lose proximity!
I was pleased that I got to go around the back of the pits and see all the waggons and goings on, security very lame which was good for spectators.
It was overcast in the morning and started to rain in the afternoon, and it was very cold.
Overall I really enjoyed myself I think it was an awsome day out , but not for the whole family:\ Or if you plan it as a family, do it for half a day!
I will post some pics all next week as I have a few:) but not lots!
Here's a taster.
cheers
Ash.

Great news that you had a good day. I know just what you mean when you say about the sound of the cars. The same thing happened when I went to my first GP its just awesome. Not being mean when I say this but I hope you have learned something in that its not for young kids as they soon get fed up and same with the wife if the kids play up. I will not even take my fourteen year old to the local stuff as he soon gets fed up. Looking forward to your photos yet to come. Oh and going back to the sound it just does not matter how many people you tell about it they just will not understand it unless they have heard it for themselves.
So many pics, It will keep me busy for a while, another from saturday.
