Hi All,
OK, this should get the cameras clicking!
As I have won a couple of memory cards in the past, I am making this one a 'ROLL OVER' so the prize will be two memory cards. (Pending permition from Ian that it is OK of course!)
The Salon Competition is.....
INSPIRATION
By this, I want to see just what inspires you to go out with your camera and take photographs. What makes you passionate about this hobby of ours. Is it the peace and tranquility of a countryside vista, is it the hustle and bustle of street photography, or is it (like me) the wonder of nature?
So lets see what each and everyone of you drives you spend your hard earned money on these cameras, and on the 23rd of February I will let you know who I think has recorded their Inspiration in the best way. :D
The Rules:
1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread. Please keep photos to a Max 800 pixels wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3) Entries should be "In line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else, any external links or photos held anywhere other than the Galleries will be deleted.)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time.
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

This is an image I look back to and think of from time to time, when I'm having one of those days where I cant feel anything from what I'm looking at through the eye piece ... this image helps me to look in different places, in different ways to find something creative.

Beauty of nature (Mini apple tree from my garden)

Well, I was up in the loft earlier when I noticed a pink sunset over the tops of the houses over the road. This inspired me to go and try and get a good picture of the pier. Things like this that change almost by the minute make me go and shoot things. (with a camera!!)
I went down to the beach to get a shot of the pier but by the time I got there it got considerably darker so I made the most of it and got this picture.
Also annoyed as I was stuck in traffic on the seafront I could see hundreds of Starlings making great dark shapes flying above and around the pier. Obviously they had gone by the time I got set up... :(

Everything from An a well-lit window, to reflections, to interesting grafiti . . .

For me, my inspiration is all around, I just dont have the time to capture it all, so I choose peak moments of asthetic beauty.
Ive been out to the garage tonight to charge the battery for my bike, and to cut a long story short come back with this image.

My inspiration comes often from subjects such as sunrise or sunsets

Sorry, it's another sunset photo. My main inspiration is colour, which is why this scene caught my eye.

Blow it up more like! (My son likes to tinker with them)
I was inspired by the colours in this image during a holiday in Marrakech nearly 16 months ago. It was captured with a Sony Cybershot. A month later I bought my first DSLR :D I've never had any spare cash in my pocket since

OK, here are the scores on the doors! :)
The winner of this memory card, and the previous memory card that I won is....
(drum roll please)
....Ash!

I love the fact that he went out to the garage to do one job....and took the camera with him to take pictures.....that, to me, is brilliant.
I am one who takes his camera everywhere, and this to me is a bit of an obsession. I often find myself taking pictures when I should be doing other things, so this is why the picture, and the story clinched it. Its a great shot as well, and looks almost de-saturated, except for the rev counter.
Nice one Ash, and have fun with your cards, and take up the batton to choose a subject for the next salon :D
Second place is: Pops, I always find the birdy shots inspirational!
In third is: Ekkl, a great story, and a beautiful photograph :)
Finally, a quick note to Gina.......I am sorry I couldnt let you get away with posting that shot without a comment !!!! *LOL
Just what have I done wrong to be told off
craggy ole face......not at all.
......headmistress pose? definately! *inlove
Congratulations Ash and well done. Really good image. Also to Pops and Ekkl. Thanks Ben for running the Salon.
*clap Congrats to Ash and well done also to runners up Pops and Ekkl. Looking forward to your theme next Ash. Thank you Ben for your challenging choice of salon subject (er, sorry, that sounds a bit "Peter Piper picked.....!)
Jo
Well done Ash ... unusual shot with great tones.

Congratulations to you Ash! Looking forward to seeing what theme you have in store for the next salon!! Well done to Ekkl & Pops.
Well done Ash, good call in my opinion :)
Wow wow wow wow!!! been listening to kylie:)
You caught me offgaurd there, I really did'nt expect that
Ive looked at all the pictures and I think there all very good entries*clap
any one could have won, I'm glad I went out to charge my bike now.
Ironically I was looking at some cards at focus, but they were a bit pricey so I did'nt get any, I always seem to be shooting in raw these days so the cards soon get eaten up in no time.
Thanks alot, still cant beleive it:D
I have an idea for the next theme already, I will let you no on friday, as I think Ive to post a taster.
cheers
Ash.
Well done Ash - great shot.
