Hi Dana, well I have to say I don't know what you are worried about :)

This is certainly not terrible at all. It's in focus, the exposure is about right and it's straight. It was obviously an overcast day.

The subject matter isn't very ambitious but it's a start!

I think what you need to focus on next is a mental image of a picture you'd like to achieve and then set about doing it.

Hi Dana, Thank you for sharing your work with us, this is a lovely photograph, I've made a few variations, to show how we can change the mood and feel of any image by playing with the tones, and 'DRESS' the image (Presentation).

Danny :)

One more to follow.....

I am also a newbie at this game and like your photograph.
Where I live in Shetland this scene is impossible to achieve (no trees, no rivers) and I envy you your choice of scenery and colours.

Keep posting because this image is good. :)

Thank you all for the comments....Ian, I will take your advice seriously for sure. Danny, very cool effects as usual! :D SFL, we do have a lot of beautiful rivers, waterfalls etc in Ontario....I won't starve for pretty places to shoot, but as Ian pointed out...a lot of overcast skies this time of year :( thanks for the nice comment!

I like it ... I reckon it would make an excellent painting.

Took just under 15mins.
I use Paint Shop Pro x but most of the credit for this goes to a small plugin that I installed a few month ago.
Since posting it I played a bit more and found that applying some soft focus improves it

Hi dana, I think its a lovely image, nicely balanced.
If I was to be uber critical, I would advise thinking carefully about where you are going to take your shot from. Looking at this, i can see some railings in the top left, and I reckon if you were to have moved a little to the left, that wonderful willow would have obscured it, the bonus being that the quaint little bridge on the left would have had somewhere for the eye to walk! (of course, for all I know there is a factory or another eyesore down there, so I may be doing you an injustice!)

Keep them coming, and I too dont know what you worrying about! ;)

Ben, thanks for the comment, I think you are exactly right about the change of angle both to obscure the railing and to look down the bridge.....and no, not an eyesore within miles of that spot so I have no excuse! :D And Pops, I think what you did making it look like a painting was cute!! Thanks:)

Hi Dana,
I like your image, I think you have done very well, the image is well ballanced and is pleasing to the eye, I am a newbie myself so would not dream of criticising as I have neither the knowlage nor the experience. But I like it.
