View Full Version : Fortnightly Salon Competition No 25 - Two of a Kind
THE THEME FOR SALON COMPETITION NO 25 IS
Two of a Kind
Feel free to interpret the Challenge in whatever way you wish.
Here are the rules:
1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3) Entries should be "In line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else, any external links or photos held anywhere other than the Galleries will be deleted.)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time.
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.
The competition will close at midnight GMT on Tuesday 18th September, 2007 and I will aim to post the results the following day.
Good luck and have fun. ;)

Two baby tortoises and their mummy. It's amazing they survived actually, because the mum and dad are two different types of tortoise, the mum also has a lot of shell damage from being kicked around by someone (we rescued her) and when the eggs were laid, we didn't even have a proper vivarium for them. So I'm glad they're both healthy. :)

Hope its in time!
Firstly thank you all for making my task very hard. This salon has produced so many good images that I had to enlist the help of my wife to select a short list. As this is a FUN Salon we tried to make our selection with total disregard to technicalities and judge the entries on pure personal taste. So no critique write up.
I personally was finding it very hard to separate First and second but then a late entry relieved me of this problem. I have now placed those two entries as joint second. :D
So here we go:-
Third place goes to SPL.
Joint second to Pewidane and Andrew Thatcher. (Still can't make my mind up about these).
First goes to Changeling for a superb image of the Brown Pelicans.
Well done everyone who didn't make the short list.
Over to you Changeling for the next Salon.

Congratulations Changeling on winning the salon with your entry of a great shot of brown penguins. I've found it quite difficult to photo birds in full flight. Well done!

Holy Cow, thanks to Ron and the Mrs, had to be a difficult decision with all the excellent entries.
So there's no time like the present to practice and hone your skills.
Shutter speeds up!! I would like everyone to enter your best "Birds(or bird) in flight" photograph for the next Salon Competition.
Charles
First of all I would like to add my Congratulations. I called my husband in last night to have a look at your entry. I just thought it was amazing. So,IMO, a very well deserved winner; when you posted those pelicans, there was no contest!
AND
OMG in 30,000+ images I can't ever remember taking a bird in flight.:\
ALSO
Many congrats to Pewidane, Andrew Thatcher and SPL

Nice theme - though I'm not sure any of us can come up to your superb standard with it. :D
Can you manage to start a new thread ok with the theme title and rules?
Just copy/paste the rules from lumix's original post, edit the theme title to yours (Birds in Flight) and alter the closing date to suit yourself. Approximately a fortnight - give or take a day or two either side if you wish.
Just shout if you need any help and Ian, Stephen Ben or I will help.
Polly
*clap A great image Charles and C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S on your win!
Thank you Ron for running this last Salon - what a popular theme it was too.
Jo
Very well done Charles - not an easy pic to take. I also thoroughly enjoyed the creativity in Peders and Andrews pics and so many more as well. Feel very flattered to be chosen for a place on this one.
cheers
